A little about me...

Well, if you have gotten this far you probably know my name is Tara and that I love the outdoors, but that's not all!

I was born and raised in good ole Pittsburgh, PA. (Yep, you got it, I'm a yinzer, 'repping the good old black and gold!) During high school I started traveling to Vail, Colorado to visit my cousin and fell in love with skiing, mountain biking, and everything that goes along with mountain life! I quickly told my entire family I would be moving west after I graduated college and then fell even more in love with the outdoors while attending Penn State!

During college I somehow found a work-study job for Penn State Adventure Recreation and became an Adventure Guide! I was guiding pretty much every trip we offered which solidified my love for the outdoors even more. All the while, I was playing Division 1 Club Hockey and trying to have a social life at the same time, I have no idea how I did it all looking back. But, not even a year after I graduated college with my Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health and Psychology, I was packing up a U-Haul trailer and driving out to Colorado without a job or signed lease!

When I moved to Colorado, I lived in a janky little house with my friend Joey in Fort Collins, right across from the CSU campus. I lived in Fort Collins for a while and met my boyfriend, John, shortly after moving to CO. John and I eventually decided it was time to move in together and by the grace of God found a condo in Summit County! We found our landlord through Craigslist from an ad that had no pictures and only said "1 bedroom condo, $1500/mo." He met us at a truck stop in Denver and had a meeting with us in the back of his van before we went to see the place (horror movie vibes right?!) And wouldn't you know it, 3 years later, here we are still at the same little 1 bedroom living our best mountain lives!

While living in Summit, I have immersed myself in the mountain culture and have become part of the local outdoor community with promoting robotic exoskeletons for skiers, leading group mountain bike and ski rides, coaching children, and volunteering to help out local organizations that allow us to recreate in this beautiful place! With my community in mind, I created this website, fitness program and blog with the purpose of helping others to have access to valuable training and fitness information for skiers and mountain bikers alike to have the most fun doing the sports they love!
